Residents should be aware, that there have been numerous incidents where shower screens and glass balustrading have exploded, without warning or reasoning.
Editor's Note: We are aware that approximately a dozen shower screens have exploded without warning, luckily residents have not been in close proximity, when it occurred.
In one such incident, a shower screen exploded with such force, that it broke the plastic toilet seat located next to the screen itself. The force of the explosion sent glass fragments through the walkin wardrobe, accross the bed to the bedroom window.
The force needed to break a plastic toilet seat, must have been substantial and is a concern that similar incidents might occur while residents are in close proximity to these screens and balustrades.
This is not an isolated incident and only 4 weeks earlier another screen exploded in the 400 street.
Numerous glass balustrading sections on the back verandahs of the villas have also exploded without cause or warning.
Recent issue
Just recently, a glass balustrade at the front of a villa, slid out of the support brackets, landing on a vehicle parked directly below. Thank God it didn't hit a resident. Now the owner of the vehicle is seeking costs for the repairs to her vehicle, from management. Seems a reasonable request, yet there appears to be some reluctance on the part of management to pay for the damage. We'll keep you posted.
Residents should be aware and excercise caution, so as not to place too much pressure or exert force on both shower screens and glass balustrading.
