Golf course temporary fencing

Three years ago, many residents raised concerns about the temporary fencing erected by the operator around the golf course.

This fencing was intended to allow residents access to the golf course following its closure for 18 months but has since been identified as a potential safety issue.

Jennifer Stuart Smith, the village manager at the time, informed residents that management was in the process of acquiring quotes for the construction of solid timber fencing, similar to the existing timber fencing bordering other sections of the golf course.

This timber fencing would replace the temporary rope fencing currently used in sections of the golf course.  This was to occur shortly after the completion of the earthworks and we were assured by management, that residents will be regularly updated on the progress.

After 3 years, we are still waiting to hear from management regarding the replacement of the temporary fencing around the golf course.

It appears that the commitment made by management regarding this issue has been forgotten or put on the back burner.

The Operator/Management and the Golf Committee should be reminded that resident safety should be a top priority. Perhaps the Golf Committee should push management a little harder to resolve this safety concern.

Many of our golfers are seen looking for and attempting to retrieve their golf balls along these temporary rope fences, which offer little support or resistance, compared to the solid timber fencing which we were promised.

Three years and no progress is a sad indictment of management's concern for the safety and wellbeing for our golf playing residents.

Safety of temporary fencing

There are some very steep slopes on the other side of these temporary fences.

One can reasonably assume that if a resident went over the edge of these slopes, it would result in serious injury and/or possibly death.

The temporary fencing erected at the moment, has in places, fallen over and is obvioulsy not capable of doing it's job, even on a temporary basis.

Management needs to examine and rectify these temporary fences, to ensure the safety of our residents.

Solid Timber Fencing

The promised timber fences, with each post cemented in, would be a far safer prospect and enhance the look of the village. If one looks around the village, it could certaily do with some enhancements.
