For many of the residents in the 400 and 500 streets, who have paid a premium price for uninterupted views over the the hills to the south, towards Figtree Hill and beyond, plus the golf course below, have had their views restricted by the dumping of soil taken from the hill, at the top of the estate.

The soil dumped in and on top of the old filtration pond, that was located near the bottom end of the golf course, has had thousands of tons of soil dumped and compacted in that location, building it up to the same level as the 500 street, and out some 30 to 40 meters, resulting in restricted views of the golf course, which they had prior to the relocation of the soil from the hill.

It should be noted that many of those residents affected, have paid a premium price, some paying $800,000 plus, for their villas and their chosen views, that the sales team assured them, would not be built out and their views retained.

The way it was, prior to the construction of the additional villas on the 200, 300, 400 and 500 streets.

The way it was before more dirt had to be relocated from the hill

During the construction/relocation process.

Note: No turf was laid on the top of the soil. It was left in this unfinished state until weeds and some transfer of grass seed, managed to self sow.

It is now the 1st June 2024 and the same construction zone has seen mostly weeds cover the compacted dirt area. No attempt to make the area attractive for the those residents who see this area day in and day out.

One can clearly see that the dirt area has spread 30 to 40 meters wider, before it starts to slope down the hill. It is the additional width of the fill, that robs the existing residents of the views of the golf course, they had prior to the construction works.

Promise of a 'Water Garden'

We were informed that this built up area was going to be a 'Water Garden'. Well, you can argue it is to an extent, because everytime it rains, it's compacted that tight, water just sits on the top. Very much like the golf course at the top of the hill, no drainage and the water just sits on top of the heavily compacted soil.

Not the only ones with less than  desireable views
These residents are not the only ones affected by the continual construction works by the Operator, who has a habit of leaving the construction zone in a less than tidy and attractive state.

Editor's Note: - While many of those residents affected, who, paid a premium price for their villas and their chosen views, have had little choice but to accept the loss of their views, but are annoyed and frustrated with the operator's lack of communication in relation to this and other village issues, prior to the commencement of any construction works.
